Alex Thomson is one of the world’s leading ocean sailors. He has spent almost half his life striving to win the toughest sporting event on the planet, the Vendee Globe: 75 days and nights of circumnavigation alone in a yacht racing across the world’s most perilous seas. He has sailed more than 400,000 nautical miles, and attempted ten round-world voyages. His second place in the 2017 Vendee matched Dame Ellen MacArthur as the best ever placing by a British sailor. Following the 2020 Vendee Globe Alex decided to focus on his young family and on managing campaigns for other high performance teams. His company 5 West Ltd manage two IMOCA's campaigns - L'OCCITANE en Provence Sailing Team with Skipper Clarisse Cremer and Canada Ocean Racing skippered by Scott Shawyer.
