PRIME MINISTER, SPAIN
Pedro Sánchez is the current Prime Minister of the Government of Spain, in office since June 2018. He holds a PhD in Economics and is the acting Secretary-General of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE). Previously, he was a Member of the Madrid Congress of Deputies, City Councillor for Madrid and a University lecturer. A husband and father, Sánchez completed his secondary education at the Ramiro de Maeztu Secondary School in Madrid, where he played on the youth Estudiantes basketball team. He went on to gain a Master’s Degree in EU Economics from the Free University of Brussels, and a Diploma in Advanced Studies in European Economic and Monetary Integration from the Ortega y Gasset University Institute. Before becoming a university lecturer, he worked as an adviser at the European Parliament, and was a member of the Office of the United Nations High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
