Bio

Arvind Krishna is the chairman and chief executive officer of IBM. He is a visionary technologist who has played a significant role in developing key IBM technologies in artificial intelligence, cloud, quantum computing, and blockchain. Over his 30-year career at IBM, Arvind led a series of bold transformations and delivered proven business results. He most recently led the successful $34 billion acquisition of Red Hat, the largest acquisition in IBM’s history and one that has redefined the cloud market for business. Arvind previously was senior vice president of Cloud and Cognitive Software, where he transformed IBM’s entire software and services portfolio for cloud, pioneered the company’s hybrid cloud business, and launched an array of successful new offerings. He also headed IBM Research, was general manager of development and manufacturing for IBM Systems and Technology Group, and led IBM Information Management. Arvind holds a Bachelor of Technology, Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a founding member of CNBC’s Technology Executive Council.
