Amrita Chowdhury is Co-Founder & CEO of Gaia, an information and analytics SaaS company providing deep learning solutions and digital transformation advisory for cities, government, and enterprises.
She serves as an independent non executive director on the public listed Boards of Simmonds Marshall, Nesco, and Mahindra Lifespace Developers. She serves as an Independent Director on the Boards of Mahindra World City Jaipur, Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai, and Mahindra Homes. She is a director for Drishtant, a tech startup for the social sector.
She was previously President & CEO of DY Works (Future Group); Country Head South Asia for Harlequin (News Corp); Associate Director, Education for Harvard Business School (HBS). She has done Board assessment and strategy consulting with AT Kearney is USA and Oppeus in Australia for clients in mining, tech, automotive, professional services, and government sectors. She started her journey in innovation and product development with Applied Materials in California.
She is Co-Chair of Ease of Living Committee of Indian Merchants Chambers, and member of CII Real Estate Committee. Earlier, she has been on Infrastructure Committee of BRICS Business Council; co-founded & served as Events Director for TiE Melbourne; served on Education Committee of Indian Merchants Chambers; and on the Board of Deutsche Schule Bombay.
She is a business strategist, engineer & innovator. She brings a unique understanding of business growth, technology, digital spaces and brands. She has been instrumental in building national scale digital platforms for Startup India - Maarg, Invest India, Swachh Bharat Mission Urban, National Institute for Urban Affairs, United Way USA, Indian Railways, Airports Authority of India, amid others. She has provided technology expertise for Agra, Lucknow, Aurangabad, Solapur smart cities, Delhi Police, and Brookfield.
She holds 7 US patents for semi-conductor manufacturing.
She has a B.Tech. from IIT Kanpur, MS from UC Berkeley, and MBA from Carnegie Mellon Tepper Business School.
She is passionate about content - spoken, written and visual. She has written 2 books of fiction and is a frequent commentator on business, technology, and marketing issues in mainstream media, magazines and electronic platforms. She has been featured and interviewed for leading magazines, newspapers and other media.
She has co-authored white papers on e-Governance, Smart Cities, Design Thinking for NITI, CII, MEITY and DoT. She has led branding for Agra Smart City, Swachh Bharat Mission, DMIC Auric, and multiple brands.
